High blood pressure
comes in many forms. Even a slightly elevated blood pressure is bad
news but there are times when it can be extremely high and you must
seek urgent medical attention, as soon as possible. Do you know when to
go to hospital?
90/60 to 120/80
This is considered normal, healthy
blood pressure. Carry on like this and you should have a healthy
heart and cardiovascular system for many years to come.
121/81 to 139/89
This stage is called prehypertension.
Doctors call it this because it signifies that if you don't take steps
soon to lower your blood pressure then it will probably rise further
over time.
You need to start making changes to your lifestyle to bring your blood
pressure down if it is in this zone. Just because the prefix "pre" is
used does not mean that you are safe. In fact, if you are at the upper end of this
zone then you already have a doubled risk of heart attack and stroke.
140/90 to 159/99
This band is offically called Stage I
hypertension. Although you will likely not come to any harm if
you delay by a day or two to see your doctor, do not underestimate the
damage done if you are within this range.
Many people in this range already have significant organ damage
(especially the kidneys) and also evidence of cardiovascular disease.
You must make steps to start reducing your blood pressure almost
immediately if you want to limit the damage and restore your health.
160/100 And Higher
This is known as Stage II hypertension.
I strongly recommend that you visit
your hospital as soon as possible if you discover that you have
this type of high blood pressure.
Although you may want to consider natural methods of lowering your
blood pressure in the long term, it is likely that you will be given
drugs immediately in an effort to stop the damage that has already been
done to your body and to try and preserve your health.
Why take drugs if
you don't have to? Medical studies have shown that there are many natural ways to lower your blood
pressure instead: Blood Pressure Truth.
